The most ancient Republic in the world, San Marino is situated on the slopes of the Monte Titano between the Marche and the Emilia Romagna regions and overlooks the Adriatic Coast and the Riviera Romagnola. From the three towers, which are the symbol of the city, visitors can enjoy an outstanding view over the sea and the hills of the Montefeltro.

Thanks to its strategic position it is a traditional tourist Mecca for thousands of visitors flocking there all the year round.

The old town of the Republic of San Marino develops around the three towers and is characterized by ups and downs which lead to the most fascinating spots in the city, to its narrow streets and to its ancient buildings. Not to be missed is the Piazza della Libertà, seat of another symbol of San Marino, the Palazzo Pubblico, also called Palazzo del Governo, which is a neo-Gothic building dating back to '800 characterized by typical battlements.

Shopping lovers can walk along the streets of the old town which are rich in shops selling souvenirs and other nice items.

Not to be missed are the famous "Giornate Medievali", historic commemorations which take place in summer and transform the old town into a medieval court populated by ladies and knights in period costumes, protected by legions of soldiers and rich in ancient shops, inns and restaurants proposing medieval menus. Last but not least the performances of the flag -wavers and of the crossbowmen who perform in the charming Cava dei Balestrieri, one of the most fascinating spots in San Marino.
